The Indiana State Pipe Trades Association held their annual Apprentice Contest in South Bend, Indiana at the newly expanded training center for Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 172. Business Manager Kurt Meade and Training Coordinator, Broc Buczolich welcomed members from all Indiana Locals for the competition, March 19-21, 2013.
The host of the Apprentice Contest, the Indiana State Pipe Trades brought apprentices from seven Indiana Locals around the state. President, Jack Neal said “The men competing are some of our finest apprentices. The contestants came here to show off their skills and to win the title of #1 in the State.” The winners of this years’ contest are:
- #1 HVAC Service Tech: DAVID DWIGANS, Local 172, located in South Bend, Indiana
- #1 Pipefitter: MICHAEL WISE, Local 440, located in Indianapolis, Indiana
- #1 Plumber: CHRISTOPHER FOSTER, Local 440, located in Indianapolis, Indiana
- #1 Welder: JACOB BRANAM, Local 136, located in Evansville, Indiana
The winners will go onto compete in the United Association District 2 Apprentice Competition to be held June 10-14th in Louisville, Kentucky.
Kent Prosser, ISPTA Financial Secretary and Treasurer said “Congratulations to all of the winners, it was a tough competition this year. All of the contestants were top-notch.”
